1-13-2021 Wednesday Evening Message, Patiently Waiting for Jesus

Patiently Waiting For Jesus

1 Thessalonians 1:6-10 (KJV)

6 And ye became followers of us, and of the Lord, having received the word in much affliction, with joy of the Holy Ghost:

7 So that ye were ensamples to all that believe in Macedonia and Achaia.

8 For from you sounded out the word of the Lord not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but also in every place your faith to God-ward is spread abroad; so that we need not to speak any thing.

9 For they themselves shew of us what manner of entering in we had unto you, and how ye turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God;

10 And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come

Here we find a church that is fully engaged in the work of the gospel.

They followed the Apostle Paul

They were examples

They were burdened

They were living testimonies

The Purpose of Prayer

1 Timothy 2:1-8 (KJV)

It is proper to pray and give thanks for all men

1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;

2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.

3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;

4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;

6 Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.

7 Whereunto I am ordained a preacher, and an apostle, (I speak the truth in Christ, and lie not;) a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and verity.

8 I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.

1. Prayer is contact with God

2. Prayer is communion with God

3. Prayer is cooperation with God

4. When we pray the devil will Hate it, God will love it, and we will enjoy it.

5. When Daniel prayed God delivered.

6. When Abraham prayed God answered.

7. When the church prayed Peter was released from jail.

8. We may not be Daniel or Abraham But God still answers the prayers of his church.
